Photographer/artist/teacher Loren Ellis returns to PPA to judge this first competition of the new year!

Loren has an M.F.A. from Florida State University and a B.A. from the University of South Florida. Her studio and Art for Healing NYC Int’l Gallery are in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen.

“Essence of an Artist- The Art and Life of Loren Ellis- Follow your Dream…” is a book and documentary in process. The book is about Loren’s art, poetry, life and why she founded Art for Healing NYC Int’l org. and to follow Your Dream. The project is a collaboration with musicians, videographers, graphic designers, dancers.

Seventeen years ago Loren founded Art for Healing NYC Int’l Org. a not-for-profit tax-exempt international arts charity based in Manhattan. Its mission: When one is healed spiritually, one can heal physically and mentally via involvement with the visual and performing arts.

Loren has taught numerous workshops and courses at Parsons School of Design, The New School, Univ. of South Florida, Columbia Preparatory School, and ongoing courses with Art for Healing NYC International organization.

Her book Photographs and Thoughts is in the collections of MoMA, the New York Public Library, Santa Barbara (CA) Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, New York Historical Museum, the Cracow (Poland) museum, Kodak, the Florida State Capitol, Woodstock Center of Photography Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum.

Loren’s commissioned work includes clients such as the New York Yankees, Johnson & Johnson, Ecology, Tampa Electric Co. and many private corporations. She has received many awards and grants and has exhibited nationally and internationally, recently at Art Hotel Gran Paradiso in Sorrento, Italy.  Loren wrote and directed “A Tiny Voice” video documentary of an artist, interviewed at 100 years of age, who photographed Albert Einstein.
